Kye Scroop headed to the Perth Motorplex for the Christmas Cup in his first outing since the engine let him down at just the second meeting of the season, Michael “Magic Man” Figliomeno tribute meeting. It proved to be a successful night all round for Kye, who stood on the podium for the first time in his career, coming home in third.
“This is a great result not only for me but the team as well, I’m over the moon” said Kye.
"With Kris Coyle racing Speedweek over east his brother Jono Coyle and fellow crew member Aidan came over to give us a hand, which we are very grateful for, as not only me but the whole team learned so much" explained Scroop.
The night started off well when Kye stopped the clock during the time trials at 16.288, giving him the third quickest time behind Ben Ellement and Michael Robertson.
During the heats the 20 year old racer struggled to move forward as he found it hard to get around the slower cars, finishing them in seventh and eighth respectively. "Despite we were unable to get around the cars the car felt great, i've never felt so confident in the car since i started to race spintcars" said Kye Scroop.
Starting the feature race out of position five Kye Scroop was always in with a shot of a podium result. When the green flag dropped young Scroop got a great jump getting into second spot, then he would fall back to third on the second lap. In the middle stages of the race Jamie Miaolo got passed relegating Kye to fourth, a few laps later Ben Ellement would retire elevating Kye back to third and that's where he would finish.
"As I said earlier this is a great result and the team worked really hard, we got our engine back in the last couple of weeks from Scott Inglis from Inglis Race Engines in Queensland, who did an awesome job. This is certainly a weight of my chest, hopefully now we can look for similar results in the new year" a jubilant Kye said.
The team will now look towards the Sprintcar Muster at the Perth Motorplex on the 2nd of January.
While the engine was off being repaired the team where hard work gaining new sponsors and would like to welcome DDh1 Drilling, Midland Nissan and Valvoline to the team.
Race Update Posted Thursday, October 28, 2010 by KSM
With all the off season preparations having been completed Kye Scroop Motorsports headed to the Perth Motorplex to contest the Watson Transport Express Sprintcar Track Championship. In the action packed feature race the team would walk away with a top ten result.
The first time trail of the season saw the team qualify badly down in 19th of 21 cars with a time of 15.858. “Unfortunately we had the car a little bit too tight and turns one and two were greasy and that caught me out as well” said Scroop.
Heat racing was a mixed bag for the twenty year old with. “After the time trial we loosened the car up, due to the bad qualifying we started towards the front in the first heat and I managed to come away with second” explained Kye.
In their second heat one of the power steering hoses began to leaking forcing Kye to wrestle the 800hp beast around the 500m track, he would finish in 8th.
As the cars rolled onto the track for the feature race the team would be starting from the 17th spot. The race would start and no sooner it would be halted while some cars tangled with other cars and others were caught out by the track.
Avoiding the crashes would be a key to moving up throughout the race. “It was tough out there tonight with all of the mayhem of other drivers crashing and the rough track it just good to get this first meeting done” said the 20 year old.
“The track was a bit heavy and rough but it was really hooked up, to be honest it’s the best Motoplex surface I can remember racing on. So to start in 17th and come away with 8th it was a good night overall”.
The team’s attention will now turn to the opening round of the Southern Thunder Series to be held at the Smokefree Collie Speedway.
Kye would like to thank all of his sponsors for coming to watch the first meeting of the new season and looks forward to bringing them some success this season

KSM Prepare For Upcoming Season Posted Wednesday, July 7, 2010 by KSM
After having a disappointing 2009/2010 season with the biggest lowlight being when the 410 powered Maxim suddenly turned right into the turn four wall at the Perth Motorplex, Kye Scroop is preparing for another season in his own team. Competing against the best WA has to offer on such a small budget is tough for this 20 year old but has shown he can mix it with them.
His schedule will see him contest the Perth Motorplex Track Championship, Scroop is no stranger to this track having won the Junior Sedan Track Championship twice. As the team continue to find their feet they will also look at heading down to Bunbury for a few shows.
Talking about what he would like to achieve this season Kye said “This will be my second year running my own deal and as a team we will be looking for consistency. From my point of view I’m wanting to get as many laps under the belt and taking the chances when they arise”.
“We’re realistic about what we can achieve and as long as we improve each week and finish every race we start then we will be happy”
Joining Kye will be crew chief Lee Redmond who has had experience running his own Speedway (Bike) and Motocross Team and also competes in the Wingless Sprints. Other members include Steve Adley, Daniel Sebbes and Ryan MacAurthur.
Over the winter months the team has been working on a new trailer that will be finished in the coming weeks.
Kye knows that on track success is important for sponsors but the off track promotion is just as important. Over the season the team will look for every opportunity to promote themselves, sponsors and sport.
